RACE NOTICE

Series starts September 13, 2009

Race dates:   September 13, 20 and 27

First gun: Sunday 15:00 (3:00 PM)

One or two races per date, numerous throw-outs

Time limit = until we get bored or the gin runs out

Time on Distance

Rules:  The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 plus Lost Boys local rules will be in effect.   Rule 26 of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005‑2008 shall be used.

Classes: Two classes - Winners and Losers

If three or more boats of the same class register at least one week prior to the beginning of the series it may constitute a separate class.  If not enough boats are entered in a particular class, the Lost Boys reserves the right to combine classes.

Scoring:  The low point method will be used with points in the order of finish.  DNF is one point more than qualified boats finishing in the race. DNS is one point more than qualified boats finishing in the series. DSQ is one point more than qualified boats finishing in the series.

Awards:  One bottle of rum after series for first place. Rum must be shared with the Lost Boys.

Safety:  Wearing personal floatation devices may be required during some races.   All boats are required to meet U.S. Coast Guard regulations including working lights, anchor and rode, life jackets for each person aboard, fire extinguisher (if engine is present), and one throwable cushion with line attached.

Eligible entries: Owner of boat may or may not be a member in good standing of the Waco Sailing Club with racing fee paid or not. The Lost Boys don't care.

PHRF ratings:  Requests for headsail only (rule 50.4) allowance must be made before the first race of the series.  Any request for an adjustment of a yacht's PHRF rating shall be requested at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the series. The races will be scored as PHRF Time-on-Distance.

Courses:  The race committee will run windward/leeward, triangle, and Olympic courses.  A color copy of the sailing instructions, a diagram of courses, a map and signals can be requested from the race committee.  The Lost Boys reserve the right to refuse such requests it we so choose.

Protests:  Protest forms due no later than 2 minutes after a race. Protest forms are to be submitted to the WSC Race Commander. Protest meetings will be held at the end of the next regular WSC meeting after the 7-day period. Absent protester or alleged perpetrator forfeits rights.  No rescheduling allowed. Any decisions by the WSC Race Commander and Committee will be ignored by the Lost Boys and the Lost Boys reserve the right to make whatever decisions they so choose.

Request for Adjustment: Any member in good standing may file a Request for Adjustment (Form) on either his/her own boat or any active racing boat.  This form will be available from the current Race Commander.

The Form must be filled out and received by the current Race Commander at least 21 days before the start of the next series.

If the submitted form regards a boat other than the one raced by the submitting member, the skipper/owner of the boat in question will be notified of such a request before the Committee convenes.  The submitting member MUST have the signatures of at least two active owners/skippers in the same fleet.  The Committee will keep the identity of the submitting member and any signatures secret.

The results of any Change in Rating will be given in writing to the owner/skipper of the adjusted boat and will be recorded in the club newsletter.

The Lost Boys reserve the right to ignore such nonsense and reserve the right to adjust handicaps and adjustments as deemed most satisfying to the Lost Boys.
